DeskBots 2008 - Version 1.2 (Discontinued)
Take the HAL 9000, mix in some Talking Moose, a little Buggs Bunny, a Stooge or three, plus a whole lot of attitude and what do you get? DeskBots, the robotic talking desktop companions! Your DeskBot will refer to you (and your friends and family!) by name! It will offer "helpful" computing advice, warn you of impending doom, alert you to the presence of excess matter in the universe, and generally do everything it can to distract you from productivity. DeskBots has been described as "artificial artificial-intelligence" and "riotous fun"!

Yes, DeskBots is back in a completely rewritten version of our talking desktop "assistant" with lots of improvements, new gags, full Mac OS X integration, and a number of actual useful new features including:

  • A handy "to-do" list. Your DeskBot will even remind you about the tasks that you've been too lazy to complete.
  • A basic birthday, anniversay, and holiday schedule with spoken reminders of events that are coming up.
  • POP email monitoring to let you know when you have new mail waiting to be read.
  • Local weather forecasts from Yahoo! News.
  • Date and time reminders.
  • Kiosk mode that automatically hides your desktop when you step away from the computer.
  • Customizable phrases, interface elements and other neat stuff that you'll just have to discover them for yourself.

 
System Requirements
DeskBots requires an Apple Macintosh computer running Mac OS X version 10.3 or higher as well as Apple's QuickTime software. A PowerMac G4, G5, or Intel-based Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.4 or higher is suggested.
Downloads
Applications run in "demo" mode allowing you to try them out on your system before purchasing a license. Once you purchase a license, you will receive a code which will convert the application into the full, registered version.
